Looking to get your child started in ice hockey? Introduction to Termites is a low-cost, low-commitment introductory program aimed to introduce young skaters to the game of ice hockey. This once per week, no travel program is perfect for those families looking to sample hockey. No prior skating experience is required. The kids are encouraged to gain confidence and speed on their skates through fun games like tag, relay races and obstacle courses.

Introduction to Termites is offered in two sessions per season for the convenience of families. The second session is a repeat of the first session. Typically, though not always, kids will choose to move to U6 Termites or U8 Mites after completing the first session.

'24-'25 Registration Fees: $75 per 6 wk session, $150 for both + USA Hockey Fees (varies based on age, $15-$50)

Introduction to Termites is geared towards children ages 4-8, with little to no skating experience. Kids with prior skating experience or confidence on the ice are encouraged to register for U6 Termites or U8 Mites, whichever level is age appropriate for their birth year.

Introduction to Termites will have 2x 6 week sessions per hockey season, the first being earlier in the season (Nov-Dec) and the second being after Christmas (Jan-Feb).

Intro to Termites will have 1x 45 minute practice per week, 5:45-6:30 pm.

There are no games or other ice touches outside of normal practice time.

Intro to Termites will practice at the Oshkosh 20th Ave YMCA.

The Association has equipment available for use at no additional fee. The equipment must be returned in good condition.

Skaters are welcome to use their own equipment.

The Introduction to Termites level is an introductory level, designed for easy transitions to U6 Termites or U8 Mites. The Coaches will be evaluating the skaters and making recommendations on moving skaters into those programs.
